Visual Arts
Visual Arts - February
Linked to the math curriculum and geometric shapes we will be looking at Piet Mondrian.
Mondrian applied exclusively right angles. Parallel and perpendicular lines created the image. The palette included primary colors (red, yellow, and blue), as well as non-colors, like white, grey, and black. The surface was flat and even, so nothing can disturb the ultimate balance, embodied in the regular grate composition. (Retrieved from https://www.virtosuart.com/blog/abstract-art)
Activity
Students will use this form of artistry to create a picture of their own. They can paint it or use markers. I will be assessing neatness, straight lines, colour pattern.

Visual Art - Friday Jan. 7 - Winter Hats/Zangles
Visual Arts - January 2022 - Winter Inspired Painting. - When we return to school we will do this activity.
Winter Paintings. In this winter tree inspired project students will study the art element of Color. They will review the color families of Primary and Secondary Colors. Colors are made by mixing one primary and one secondary together. For example: Yellow (Primary) + Green (Secondary) = Yellow-Green/Lime Green (Intermediate) A Related Color family is a group of colors found next to one another on the color wheel. Usually made up of a Primary, Secondary and Intermediate Color. Students practiced using watered tempra to create all the colors they needed for their painting and will learn how to blend them together to make gradual color changes. When they are done with blending they will use black paint to carefully add the silhouette of evergreen trees to their painting. Then since it is a winter inspired painting they splatter painted snow on their art. Beautiful Art 3/4 Graders!!!! Have fun if you are at home and try this activity. Bring it back to school with you or send me a picture.
